List building tips: build a responsive list with blogging

images3 List building tips: build a responsive list with blogging These days, while reading more blogs I found that there are many people who would like to know more  list building tips due to the vital role that a list has for building a successful business.

So, in this post I will share a couple of strategies to create a more responsive list using blogging as a main marketing strategy.

Now, why blogging and not other methods ?

Here are few good reasons to start a blog :

-  you can generate traffic and leads , short and long term, for free.

-  very simple to use: no special technical skills are required.

- one of  the most appreciated sources of information here online: a recent study confirms that 46% of the internet users read 5-10 blogs per day.

- is very easy to share your  blog content on social media.

- it’s your own “online home” where you can brand yourself.

- consistent blogging creates authority and credibility; as a result you’ll have a larger readership, a more responsive list than in other cases and yes, more customers/ returning customers.

- the search engine love blogs and thus they’re are indexed very fast.

- it’s the bridge/communication line between your potential clients and you.

Conclusion: if you don’t have a blog yet, go and start one today icon smile List building tips: build a responsive list with blogging Your business will thank you.

List Building tips: Understanding the basics

In order to use blogging for generating leads you will need:

1. A functional  WordPress blog  with your own domain name and a good hosting service. I use Godaddy for both and so far, I’m happy with it.

2. An autoresponder

Blogging without building a list means pure entertainment, not business.

There are countless of options when it comes to an autoresponder. I tested more services in the past months and the one I would highly recommend at any time is Aweber: user friendly,it has a high deliverability rate , automatic follow ups, broadcasting +blog broadcasting, web form creator and also you can build unlimited lists.

3. Have something valuable to offer to your visitors

The options are endless: a free webinar, ebook, podcast, video series, a coaching sesion or simply regular blog updates via email. You can create your own freebie or use a marketing system with more free gifts already created (this is the option I’m using now)

List building tips: Make your freebie accessible and safe

What do I mean by that?

First, make sure that your free gift can be easily seen and delivers what you promise.

Secondly you have to eliminate the potential objections by mentioning that your offers is spam free and the choice to unsubscribe at any time, like the one from my sidebar.

Your blog provides a lot of opportunities to place your  offer: sidebar, footer, the top and the bottom of each post, in the comments area, the bio box or a thank you email for first time commenters.

Let’s not forget pop-ups! Some entrepreneurs avoid them at any cost but they can still be useful as long as they are less intrussive and more value oriented.

How you do it more exactly?

Here are some list building tips and tools I personally use:

- Aweber: for the sidebar web form( it also works for the pop up)

- WordPress Plugins like “What would Seth Godin Do” or ” Advanced Bio Box”

In the posts below I explained already how you can work with them:

One cool tactic to get targeted leads and brand yourself

Generate more targeted leads with this powerful technique

- MaxBlogPress Subscribers Magnet: it’s a  great investment for any blog. It helps you place the optin in the locations I mentioned above plus many other features.

Now that you have everything in place it’s time for driving traffic traffic  through blogging:

- perform a proper keyword research to get organic traffic from the search engines.

You can do it in two ways:  for free with Google Keyword Tool External or using Market Samurai(paid tool)

Here is a post that explains the keyword reseach process in detail:

How to do a proper keyword research for SEO?

- start creating valuable blog posts consistently and promote them on various online channels

If the content is great and always fresh then people will want to visit your blog often, become part of the community and finally subscribe to your list to get more training.

- build a relationship with your list

A relationship doesn’t not mean blasting affiliate offers or MLM opportunities daily. Seek to give them valuable tips with every email you send and from time to time, recommend products or service that solve their needs.

The relationship is what leads to sales, not a bunch of names and email addresses.

List building tips: conclusion

Building your list  with blogging shouldn’t be a struggle at all. With all the steps above this process will become easier and fun.

Wow Radu, you have jam packed this post full of all sorts of goodies.

As you very well know, I do love blogging and I believe that the relationship you build with your readers will make them want to get on your list. I mean if you offer so much great stuff on your blog they are thinking what the heck will I get on their list! Once you’ve built up that relationship with them then they will be more interested in hearing what you have to say about certain products or services. I mean they know, like and trust you now. Just like I hired Brankica to create my fan page because I’ve built up a relationship with her.

Building that list is the best way to build your business. Everything you shared here is right on and Aweber is also my autoresponder of choice. To me it’s the best one out there and I’ve used some of the others.

Great post Radu and thanks for giving away all the good scoop!

    Hey Adrienne,
Amen to that! If you strive to provide great content, build relationships and simply have fun while spending time with them online/offline the selling part becomes easier. And the relationships you create will help beyond imagination in the long run. Your example is just another proof for that.
I can sense your passion for blogging. It shines on your blog and boy, it’s contagious.
I appreciate your insightful comment Adrienne :) Keep up the great work as well.

    All the best,

Wow, Radu, what a great post! It is amazing that you can include so much great tips in just ONE post! I do appreciate you :)

Thank you for bringing up this important issue about conversion. I appreciate your talking about conversion BEFORE getting traffic. Thanks also for linking back to Mavis Nong’s blog post about MaxBlogPress. I have opted in Mavis’s offer and watched the introductory video. Everything makes sense! What good is it that we have good content and good traffic but poor conversion? The strategies are reader-centered… no wonder both you and Mavis recommend it.

    Thank you again, Radu.
